about us
We have been keeping busy here at Paws For Thought®
and are so excited to be launching our first newsletter. For those
of you that aren't as familiar with us as others, we manufacture several
products that aid in pet bathing.
Our
flagship product, the Booster Bath®,
is a portable elevated pet bath unlike anything available in the market today.
Our bath has been recommended by veterinarians, groomers, and publications
worldwide and has allowed over 60,000 people 360 degree bathing access to their
animals.

We
also manufacture a product called the Tropic Shower®.
This product allows you to hook up to warm water via your washer's water
connections and a regular garden hose. Your dog deserves warm water too!

booster bath success story
Paws
For Thought®
recently teamed up with The Quigley House,
the Domestic Violence Center for Clay County, Florida.
This woman's shelter is
one of a very few of its kind
in the country inviting
battered women to stay with their animals at Quigley House's facilities.
The Quigley House has accommodations for their guests' animals that include a
ten run dog kennel with watering system featuring a Booster Bath®
for easy bathing, a climate controlled 10 x 16 feline house, and furniture for
the animals. Sharon Youngerman, executive director for the Quigley House
is thrilled to have a dog washing system in house that is both easy to use and
attractive. "For
years Quigley House has received calls from abused women who need a safe place
to go. However, like most DV shelters we weren’t able to accommodate their
pets. So, instead of leaving their beloved pets in harms way, the victims
stayed in the abusive situation. Quigley
House is working to change that. Now the 'entire' family can find safe
shelter from abuse. While they are staying with us out of harms way, we want
them to feel at home. Thanks to Booster Bath the dogs will be both safe
and clean. Thank you, Booster Bath®."
The Quigley House opened its doors to their residents four legged friends on
April 21, 2008 and will be featured along with all the pet products donated
(including the Booster Bath®)
in the Dog Fancy July 2008 issue.

flea & tick season!
Spring has sprung, summer’s around the corner,
and that means that flea and tick season is upon us! They can live just about
anywhere, but your pet’s furry coat is their preferred habitat. A trip to the
park or even a walk around the neighborhood with your dog can draw these pests
into your home… especially during warm and humid months. And, since over 65
percent of American households include one or more family pets, the odds are
that fleas and ticks will at some point infect your canine pal.
Protect yourself and your pet
with regular Booster Baths using
flea, tick, and mosquito prevention shampoos and products available
over-the-counter.
Some important information
about fleas and ticks:
Fleas are prevalent in warm,
humid areas such as the southeast and Gulf Coast area. They abound in the months
of May through September. Ticks are most likely to be found in wooded regions
and areas with brush or thick grass, and a moist environment. One adult female
flea can lay as many as 50 eggs a day. A tick lays 100 eggs at a time.
This is why regular Booster
Bathing in combination with pest prevention products is so important. |

Paws For Thought
participated recently in the Mid States Distributing Company's Spring trade
show. This was a first for our company, as the show primarily focused on
farm and feed retail chains. We recognize that there is a growing need to
find easy bathing solutions for animals and also understand that making our
products more accessible to the public via retail storefronts is an added
convenience to our customers. At the Mid States show we were excited to
introduce our new retail floor stacker that allows retail chains to easily set
up Booster Baths in stores. This new retail pallet display allows for 11
or 15 baths to be displayed and comes neatly packaged in an attractive box that
fits right on a pallet! Stay tuned for more information about retail
locations carrying our product.

amazing dogs in the news

Athens is a five year old Golden Retriever and a service dog who assists a
wheelchair user, but his remarkable and unique talent has given him a nickname:
"Salvador
Doggie." Athens paints with a specially made paintbrush that he grips
in his mouth, and his artistry have made waves in his hometown of Vancouver, BC.
The service dog will be auctioning several of his works to raise funds for the
Pacific Assistance Dogs Society, which trained him.
When he's not
painting, Athens keeps busy by pulling his handler's wheelchair up hills,
turning lights on and off, and retrieving household items. Sherry Caves, who
uses a wheelchair due to a spinal cord injury, is a former painter herself who
enjoys helping "Salvador" develop his art skills.
Athens will donate
paintings for a live and silent auction at the PADS Mothers' Day Charity
Auction on May 10th, where he will also demonstrate his painting technique to
attendees.

bathing & health tips

As summer approaches, flea and
ticks aren't your dog's only problem. According to
iVillage.com, animals could be at risk of suffering
heat stroke, "a serious condition where normal body temperature of 102.0
degrees Fahrenheit in dogs is extremely elevated, sometimes as high as 109.5
degrees Fahrenheit. Symptoms include vomiting, increased breathing,
unresponsiveness and collapse." iVillage states providing your animal with
shade and fresh water can help avoid heat stroke. They warn, "if you suspect
a pet is suffering from heat stroke, immerse or spray him with cool water
and see a veterinarian immediately." Remember, the Booster Bath® bathing
system works wonders in the summer time to cool off your hot pup!
Did you know cleanliness and
proper grooming is also an essential part to the continued good health your
pets? Where bathing dogs has proven to be a challenge, the Booster Bath® bathing
system has stepped in and saved the day. Dogs with skin issues may have to
be bathed more frequently, thus making the Booster Bath an important part of
the bathing process. A great tip to consider when it's time to rinse
out the shampoo: rinse it out thoroughly. Residual shampoo left on your pet
can potentially cause even more skin irritation. A wonderful resource
for dogs with skin disorders can be found at
nzymes.com. |
